Job summary

The role combines hands-on engineering with mentoring and client liaison duties within a hybrid work arrangement requiring in-office presence three days per week.

Candidates should hold a BS in Engineering, PE license, and strong skills in relay calculations, SCADA concepts, and protective relaying equipment. Travel for reviews may be involved.

Qualifications

• This position requires a Bachelor of Science Engineering degree.
• 12+ years experience designing substations at 138kV and above.
• PE license.
• Experience serving as firm/client liaison in a lead engineering role.
• Experience writing and supporting relay calculations.
• Proficiency with design of technical plans, drawings, and models.
• Proficiency with SKM, ETAP, ASPEN, CDEGS or vendor software.
• Familiarity with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Experience with protective relay equipment such as SEL, ABB, GE, Areva, Basler.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work on substation modifications and upgrades with calculations, designs, and specs.
• Prepare relaying philosophies and configure SCADA/telecom concepts.
• Guide junior and senior engineers in protection and controls design.
• Troubleshoot and solve engineering issues.
• Design single line diagrams, relaying/metering diagrams, and DC schematics.
• Prepare engineering studies for client and peer review.
• Review others' work including calculations and drawings.
• Coordinate with engineers, PMs, clients, and suppliers.
• Review facilities for upgrades and present findings.
• Mentor and develop less experienced engineers; travel for reviews as needed.
