Job summary

Dominion Energy seeks an experienced Substation Engineer to lead design and implementation across transmission and distribution substations (4kV–765kV). The role requires deep knowledge of substation components, strong project leadership, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders in an evolving energy landscape.

You will guide engineering teams, review equipment specifications, and engage with vendors to ensure compliance with company standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in utility substations or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of substation components and design principles.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams and drawings.
• Drafting experience; AutoCAD or MicroStation a plus.
• Excellent planning and project management abilities.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation design activities and ensure equipment meets Dominion specs.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and guide design-to-implementation transition.
• Develop design requirements for equipment applications in substations.
• Provide technical leadership and engineering training as needed.
• Represent Substation Engineering in vendor evaluations and site visits.
• Support risk reduction, cost savings, and process improvements.
