Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer in Fort Worth, TX to lead design deliverables for high-voltage substations from concept through construction. You will guide technical packages, perform complex calculations, and oversee field inspections while coordinating with project teams.

You will mentor engineers, engage with clients, prepare proposals, and ensure compliance with IEEE/NESC standards and QA/QC procedures. A PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering from ABET-accredited program with 7+ years of substation experience or FE-completed with 7+ years preferred
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work with clients and teams
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering tools; detail oriented and organized

Responsibilities

• Lead substation projects from concept through completion.
• Develop design packages including grounding, protection, relaying, and lighting.
• Prepare design calculations for insulation, DC systems, voltage drop, and cable sizing.
• Prepare proposals with schedules and budgets; manage QA/QC with project team.
• Perform field inspections and ensure client satisfaction.
• Lead design reviews and resolve project issues.
• Maintain timelines and budgets for deliverables; build relationships with clients.
