Burns & McDonnell in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Staff Substation Engineer to develop design deliverables for high-voltage substations (13kV to 765kV) under supervision of a licensed PE.

You will support projects through design and construction, prepare design packages, calculations, and BOMs, and ensure QA/QC while communicating with clients.

Requires ABET-accredited degree and 3 years of substation experience; FE exam preferred; strong communication and problem-solving skills essential.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
FE exam required or EIT preferred.
Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

Supports substation projects from conceptual phase through completion.
Prepares design packages incl. arrangement, relaying, grounding, cable sizing, and BOM.
Performs electrical studies such as grounding and lightning analysis.
Assists field inspections and client presentations with QA/QC adherence.
Develops project data and supports proposals and client communications.
