Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Substation Engineer to support design deliverables for 13kV–765kV substations. You will work under licensed engineers, assist with design packages, calculations, and field inspections, and help ensure on-time project delivery.

Ideal candidates have a solid EE background, strong communication, and teamwork, plus internship or related consulting exposure. ABET-friendly degree preferred; local travel may occur.

Qualifications

• Assists in design from concept through completion.
• Develops substation design packages and calculations.
• Applies IEEE, NESC standards and procedures.
• Field inspections and data collection for projects.
• Collaborates with team to meet project schedules.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of design deliverables for HV substations.
• Support calculations for insulation, grounding, and DC systems.
• Prepare cost estimates, BOMs, and design sketches.
• Contribute to client presentations and status reports.
• Adhere to QA/QC guidelines and project timelines.
