Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer for Substation projects in a hybrid work environment. The role involves supporting high‑voltage substation design, protection and control, yard layouts, BOMs, and client coordination across multiple sites.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, at least 1 year of related experience, and familiarity with design tools like Bluebeam Revu and MS Office. Travel and on-site collaboration may be needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering required. Minimum 1 year related work experience.
HV substation design experience preferred (physical and/or protection & controls).
Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office programs desired.

Responsibilities

Continues to learn and remain current on design guides, standards and B&V policies.
Prepares complex engineering deliverables and calculations; manages data for engineering work.
Supports budgeting, scheduling, QA/QC, and may guide interns or entry level staff.
Coordinates with project leadership and other disciplines on design details.
Interacts with clients, vendors and subcontractors as needed for design reviews.
May assist with business development or pursuit activities.
