Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Senior Substation Physical Designer to join a project team focused on high and extra high voltage substations. You will create detailed drawings and BOMs, align with vendor data, and mentor junior staff.

The role supports a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two remote days, enabling flexible collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years of substation physical design experience.
Associates Degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience.
Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
Ability to visualize equipment details and clearance requirements.
Bilingual in Spanish and English (read, speak, write).

Responsibilities

Prepare substation drawings: General Arrangement, Electrical Equipment Plans, Elevations, BOM, Shielding, Grounding, Conduit details, Below Grade Conduit/Raceway Plan, and Building plans/sections.
Incorporate vendor information into design deliverables.
Perform client facility walkdowns.
Mentor other designers and drafters.
