Job summary

K&A Power Group in Charlotte, NC seeks a Senior Substation Engineer to lead detailed substation design for utility projects. You will perform design packages, calculations, and material lists, coordinating with project managers and junior engineers to meet client scopes.

Requires a BSEE, 4+ years in substation design for utilities, EIT/PE preferred, knowledge of grounding, protection, and CDEGS/WinIGS; proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an accredited university.
• 4+ years of professional experience within substation design for electrical utilities.
• EIT certification or PE license preferred.
• Experience with protective relaying and/or P&C design is a plus.
• Familiarity with substation grounding and lightning protection.
• Past project experience working with large utilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Experience working with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, & CDEGS/WinIGS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Detailed design of Electrical Substations – includes execution/detailed design projects and project development/scoping
• Substation design including creation of construction drawing packages, calculations, and bill of materials
• QAQC on substation design packages including layouts, elevations, and conduit layouts
• Coordinate project work with project manager, engineering lead, and junior engineers
• Communicate project status and design questions with client partners
• Attend on-site meetings to support execution and development projects
