Job summary

Wunderlich-Malec Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Lead Commissioning Engineer in Houston, TX. The role focuses on testing and commissioning electrical equipment for substations and generation plants, including protection relays, breakers, and transformers.

You will lead technical teams, develop test procedures, and coordinate with customers and subcontractors. The ideal candidate has 8–20+ years in testing/commissioning, strong knowledge of AC/DC systems, and experience with multiple relay

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or engineering technology preferred.
8–20+ years testing and commissioning experience in power systems.
Experience with protection and control schemes; familiarity with multiple relay vendors.

Responsibilities

Review specs and drawings to understand substation purpose and resolve design issues.
Manage installation/commissioning with subcontractors, personnel and customer.
Develop detailed test procedures and sign-off sheets for equipment.
Lead testing and commissioning for substations and generation stations.
Lead field teams and coordinate outages and safety plans.
Provide technical guidance and training to engineers/technicians.
