Job summary

Wunderlich-Malec Services (WM) is seeking a Staff Commissioning/Testing Engineer to lead and/or support electrical testing in substations and generator plants. You will perform protection relay and circuit breaker tests, oversee commissioning, and supervise technicians while ensuring safety and quality.

The role requires 2–8+ years of testing/commissioning experience, familiarity with relay vendors, and strong communication skills. Travel and field leadership are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical or engineering technology) from an accredited institution preferred.
• 2-8+ years testing & commissioning experience recommended.
• Experience with protection relays, circuit breakers, transformers and substation equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support testing and commissioning of electrical equipment in substations or generator plants.
• Witness or perform critical tests such as DC Functional Trip Testing prior to energization and in-service.
• Direct crews during critical work junctures (final commissioning through startup).
• Develop testing documentation and project records, including certifications and calibration logs.
• Mentor and train new engineers/technicians in relay and equipment testing.
