Job summary

Wunderlich-Malec Engineering, Inc. in Denver, CO is hiring a Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead testing and commissioning of transmission and distribution substations and generator plants.

You will direct field tests, coordinate with crews, and train engineers and technicians on relay testing and commissioning procedures. Ideal candidates have 6–15+ years of experience, expertise with protection relays (GE, SEL, ABB, etc.), and a strong ability to manage complex testing projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or engineering technology from an accredited institution.
• 6–15+ years of testing and commissioning experience.
• In-depth understanding of three‑phase power systems and protection/control schemes.
• Experience with relay test sets from SEL, GE, ABB, and others.

Responsibilities

• Review specifications and drawings to understand substation functionality.
• Witness or perform critical tests prior to energization and in-service.
• Direct crews during commissioning, startup, and testing.
• Develop testing documentation, and assist in estimating client proposals.
