Job summary

RDQ, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Manager of Substation & BESS Engineering to lead and grow our substation and battery energy storage engineering capabilities.

You will provide technical leadership, recruit and mentor engineers, and guide project execution from planning through commissioning for complex power-delivery projects. The ideal leader blends deep power-industry expertise with strong business acumen, play a pivotal role in client relationships, and helps expand RDQ's capabilities and market

Qualifications

• P.E. license and electrical engineering degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Extensive experience in substation, transmission and distribution, and BESS engineering.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and complex multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong knowledge of high- and medium-voltage substations and related electrical systems.
• Experience mentoring technical professionals.
• Utility-scale BESS and grid-integration experience.
• Strong project, client, and commercial judgment.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical oversight for substation, BESS, and power-delivery projects.
• Establish engineering standards, design practices, quality-control procedures, and technical methodologies.
• Oversee multidisciplinary engineering execution from project planning through construction and commissioning.
• Lead or participate in critical design reviews and resolution of significant technical issues.
• Ensure engineering deliverables meet client requirements and applicable standards.
• Identify and manage technical, schedule, scope, and execution risks.
• Build and maintain relationships with utilities, developers, EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, and other clients.
• Serve as executive and technical point of contact for key accounts and projects.
• Support development of proposals, scopes, budgets, and schedules.
