RDQ, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Manager of Substation & BESS Engineering to lead and grow our substation and battery energy storage engineering capabilities.

You will provide technical leadership, recruit and mentor engineers, and guide project execution from planning through commissioning for complex power-delivery projects. The ideal leader blends deep power-industry expertise with strong business acumen, play a pivotal role in client relationships, and helps expand RDQ's capabilities and market

Qualifikationen

• P.E. license and electrical engineering degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Extensive experience in substation, transmission and distribution, and BESS engineering.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and complex multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong knowledge of high- and medium-voltage substations and related electrical systems.
• Experience mentoring technical professionals.
• Utility-scale BESS and grid-integration experience.
• Strong project, client, and commercial judgment.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-management skills.

RDQ is seeking a Sr. Manager of Substation & BESS Engineering to lead and grow our substation and battery energy storage engineering capabilities.

This position is responsible for technical leadership, team development, project execution, client relationships, and business growth across substation, BESS, and related power-delivery projects. The individual will build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, establish engineering standards and processes, oversee technical quality, support strategic pursuits, and ensure successful delivery of complex client projects.

The ideal candidate combines deep power-industry expertise with strong leadership, sound business judgment, and the ability to develop people, projects, and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

• Kick start recently awarded projects by self-performing necessary engineering tasks.
• Lead and develop RDQ's Substation & BESS Engineering team.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain engineers, designers, and technical leaders.
• Establish clear roles, responsibilities, performance expectations, and career-development opportunities.
• Develop future technical and project leaders within the organization.
• Manage staffing, workload, utilization, and resource planning across projects.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Technical & Project Leadership

• Provide senior technical oversight for substation, BESS, and power-delivery projects.

Client & Business Leadership

• Build and maintain strong relationships with utilities, developers, EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, and other clients.
• Serve as an executive and technical point of contact for key accounts and projects.
• Support development of proposals, scopes, budgets, schedules, and engineering execution strategies.
• Partner with RDQ leadership to identify and pursue new substation, BESS, and power-delivery opportunities.
• Participate in client presentations, interviews, contract negotiations, and strategic pursuits.
• Help expand RDQ's capabilities and market presence in substations, energy storage, grid infrastructure, and related markets.

Qualifications

Required:

• P.E., Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related engineering discipline (Masters preferred).
• Extensive experience in substation, transmission and distribution, BESS engineering.
• Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and complex multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong knowledge of high- and medium-voltage substations and associated electrical systems.
• Experience developing and mentoring technical professionals.
• Utility-scale BESS and grid-integration experience.
• Strong project, client, and commercial judgment.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-management skills.

Preferred:

• Leadership experience within an engineering consulting, EPC, utility, or Owner's Engineer organization.
• Experience with protection and control, substation physical design, commissioning, and utility interconnections.
• Experience building or growing an engineering team or technical practice.
• Demonstrated success supporting business development and client account growth.

Salary Range: $185,000 – $215,000 / year (dependent on experience, skills, and qualifications)
