Job summary

The University at Buffalo's Student Accounts department is seeking a Senior Staff Assistant to handle a range of reporting duties and access controls within PeopleSoft and our third‑party vendor Nelnet. The role emphasizes data requests, query and report development, user training, and collaboration across billing, communications, fee assessment, item type creation, and upgrade testing tasks.

This is a full‑time, on‑site position at North Campus with a required background check and UB's AA/EOE

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or related field.
• Two or more years of related experience in a financial setting.
• Proven ability to work in an environment controlled by federal, state, and/or institutional guidelines.
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Access applications.

Responsibilities

• Data Custodian: manage access to Student Financials; oversee security access list for internal/external users; modify role or row access as needed; troubleshoot access issues.
• Create and utilize queries and reports to provide data for surveys, ad hoc requests, and departments.
• Understand and become a subject matter expert of Nelnet; troubleshooting issues, configuration, review and analyze reports, and outreach to payers.
• Train new Student Financials users in PeopleSoft
• Service Indicator (holds) management within PeopleSoft and analysis of holds to inform decisions
• Cross-train on key tasks within the office (billing, communications, fee assessment, item type creation, upgrade testing, late fees)
• Assist with website maintenance.
