Job summary

Antares is seeking a Senior Structures Engineer to lead design, analysis, and development of critical reactor structural components, ensuring structural, thermal, and functional performance from concept through deployment.

You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver first-of-a-kind hardware in a regulated environment, supporting prototype fabrication, testing, qualification, and licensing activities. The role demands strong communication and leadership across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Nuclear Engineering.
• 5+ years designing, analyzing, and developing structural systems for demanding applications.
• Experience with hand calculations, material selection, bolted and welded joints, load path development, and thermo-mechanical trade studies.
• Experience using finite element analysis (FEA) tools to evaluate structural performance, stress, deformation, fatigue, and thermal loading.
• Knowledge of structural design principles, materials, bolted and welded joints, and load path development.
• Demonstrated ability to work on multidisciplinary engineering teams and communicate concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform thermal, mechanical, and structural analyses to support sizing, layout, and optimization of reactor structural components.
• Define system architecture, operating limits, design margins, and CONOPS for reliable performance.
• Develop engineering documentation: calculations, specifications, interface definitions, design reports, and technical justifications.
• Lead design, fabrication, and execution of testing with test articles, fixtures, instrumentation plans, and validation procedures.
• Collaborate with reactor, thermal, manufacturing, licensing, and procurement teams for integration of structural systems.
• Support supplier selection, technical evaluations, design reviews, and issue resolution.
• Present technical work at design reviews and provide technical leadership through lifecycle.
