Job summary

MK Consulting Group in Los Angeles is seeking a Senior Estimator for Structural Steel and Misc. Metals to lead detailed cost projections for fabrication and erection projects. You will review drawings, perform takeoffs, and calculate comprehensive costs to support competitive bids.

Responsibilities also include managing RFIs, coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors, and mentoring junior estimators while applying AISC standards and AWS welding codes wherever applicable.

Qualifications

5–8+ years of construction estimating experience focused on structural and miscellaneous steel.
Deep knowledge of AISC standards and AWS welding codes.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

Review drawings to determine scope, steel grades, and tonnage.
Perform takeoffs for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, bolts, and welds.
Compute costs for raw materials, shop labor, crane rentals, and field erection.
Solicit and level quotes from steel suppliers and subcontractors.
Issue RFIs and track bid clarifications with GMPs and general contractors.
Mentor junior estimators and drive process improvements.
