Job summary

MK Consulting Group in Atlanta, GA seeks a Senior Estimator for Structural Steel and Misc. Metals to prepare detailed cost projections for materials, labor, equipment, and time requirements on steel fabrication and erection projects.

You will analyze blueprints, perform takeoffs for structural steel and miscellaneous metals, compute total costs, solicit and level quotes from suppliers, issue RFIs, and mentor junior estimators to drive process improvements.

Qualifications

5–8+ years of construction estimating focused on structural and miscellaneous steel.
Strong knowledge of AISC standards, AWS welding codes, and steel erection.

Responsibilities

Review architectural and structural drawings to determine the exact scope of work, steel grades, and tonnage needed.
Perform complete and traceable material takeoffs for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, bolts, and welds.
Compute overall costs for raw materials, shop labor, crane/equipment rentals, and field erection.
Solicit, compare, and level quotes from steel suppliers, coaters, and subcontractors.
Issue and track RFIs to general contractors and engineers to clarify bid details.
Review and validate estimates prepared by junior estimators, offering mentorship and process improvements.
