Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a senior subject matter expert in our Data Center team to lead structural engineering across a portfolio of data center projects, including new builds and retrofits.

You will drive technical direction, mentor leads, and coordinate with clients and upper management to ensure quality design and delivery. This role blends engineering authority with leadership and collaboration across diverse teams.

Qualifications

• Ability to quickly identify complex challenges, solve problems, communicate solutions and direct junior and senior staff on best practices.
• Understand the complexities of large contracts and different contract structures and manage change orders; stand up for the engineering team against contractor liabilities.
• Experience with many building materials and the ability to speak to executives about technical subjects without advance notice.
• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 15+ years of professional structural engineering experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer with ability to become registered in additional states.
• Knowledge of CAD software: AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, S3D.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software: RISA, RamSS, STAAD.
• Knowledge of ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, AIST Tech Report 13 and related codes and standards.
• Knowledge and application of Building Codes.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite including MS Teams for remote coordination.
• Ability to travel to client sites (approx. 10%–40%).
• Proficiency reviewing and commenting on drawings in Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality reviews of complex projects.
• Lead complex structural analyses and guide method selection for robust, code-compliant designs.
• Develop and validate advanced structural computer models; establish modeling standards; mentor team members.
• Oversee calculations for member design and foundations; direct material take-offs and estimation inputs; govern schedules and coordination.
