Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Senior Structural Mechanical Engineer to lead structural analysis and technical decisions across SPARC, ARC, and other R&D efforts. You will act as the domain expert in structural mechanics, guiding complex FEA work and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

You will mentor junior engineers, help implement best practices, and perform design analyses for large structures while engaging stakeholders at all levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience performing finite element analysis with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of computational structural mechanics including non-linear materials, plasticity, fatigue, solver convergence, and contacts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a domain expert in structural mechanics across SPARC, ARC, and other R&D projects.
• Provide technical leadership and collaborate with stakeholders to solve complex problems.
• Mentor junior staff within the Structural Engineering Department and other mechanical engineers performing structural analysis.
• Assist department management in developing and adopting best practices, workflows, and strategy.
• Conduct and review structural analyses for various system designs at Commonwealth Fusion Systems.
