Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior Structural Mechanical Engineer to serve as a domain expert in structural mechanics across SPARC, ARC, and related R&D projects. You will provide technical leadership, mentor staff, and drive best practices in design and analysis.

The role requires a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and 7+ years of FEA experience, with strong background in nonlinear materials, fatigue, and solver convergence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of professional FEA experience in a product development setting.
• Strong fundamentals of computational structural mechanics (non-linear materials, plasticity, fatigue).
• Excellent leadership and ability to influence stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel and work nights/weekends occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Serve as domain expert in structural mechanics.
• Provide technical leadership and collaborate with stakeholders across CFS.
• Mentor junior staff and review structural analyses.
• Develop and implement best practices, workflows, and strategy.
• Conduct and review structural analyses for various system designs.
