Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to lead electrical design projects within the SPARC team, reporting to the Director of Power Systems. You will coordinate cross-functional work to meet specifications, schedules, and budgets, delivering high-quality power electronic solutions for fusion power plants.

The role requires extensive hands-on testing, advanced modeling, and close collaboration with suppliers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in power electronics-based systems with a Bachelor's or 6+ years with a Master’s.
• Proven track record in design and development (system, protection, control & mechanical integration).
• Experience with inverter topologies and high-power packaging/thermal management.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, simulate, analyze and validate power electronics circuits and control strategies for medium/high voltage converters.
• Define components and develop technical requirements for electrical designs.
• Develop test methods from concept to commissioning and troubleshoot converter systems.
• Lead cross-functional design activities to deliver electrical system designs for fusion power.
• Collaborate on procurement contracts and vendor coordination for milestones.
• Document specifications, simulations and test results in technical reports.
