Pacific Fusion Corporation is seeking a Senior Structures Engineer to lead design, analysis, and validation of critical mechanical and structural systems for installation, commissioning, and operation of fusion equipment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical or structural engineering required.
10+ years of experience as a design engineer in complex structural, mechanical, or installation-support systems.
Strong working knowledge of structural and safety codes (ASME BTH-1, ASME B30.20, ASCE 37, OSHA).
Familiarity with construction procedures, temporary structures, and construction engineering and installation support.
Experience designing multi-degree-of-freedom precision systems and high-load lifting equipment.
Expertise in engineering analysis, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural integrity and dynamic/fatigue loading.
Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
Advanced CAD proficiency and GD&T experience.
Excellent leadership, communication, and project coordination skills.

Responsibilities

Drive and develop innovative designs for installation, maintenance, heavy-lift, and high-precision alignment of large fusion machine components.
Design temporary supports, frames, fixtures, falsework, scaffolding, and hoists for installation and erection.
Own structural interfaces between fusion equipment and civil facilities, including foundations and load distribution.
Design seismic restraints and vibration isolation mounts for high-mass, high-precision components.
Design test stands and develop load-proofing protocols for lifting equipment.
Provide structural engineering support and FEA for various mechanical scopes and high-load systems.
Design permanent and temporary platforms, access structures, and related components.
Ensure designs meet ASME BTH-1, ASME B30.20, ASCE 37, and OSHA standards.
Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure practicality and manufacturability.
