Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to own the structural analysis of critical spacecraft components from concept through qualification, ensuring performance under launch and in‑orbit environments.

You will perform FEA, hand calculations, and analytical modeling, correlate results to test data, and collaborate with design engineers to optimize mass and stiffness while meeting reliability goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
• 7+ years of professional experience in structural analysis in space/aerospace.
• Proficiency with FEA software such as ANSYS, NASTRAN or Abaqus.
• Experience performing classical hand calculations for stress analysis.
• Solid fundamentals in mechanics, dynamics, and materials science.
• Experience with launch/operational environments in space (vibration, shock, thermal cycles).

Responsibilities

• Own and execute structural analysis for critical spacecraft components from concept to verification.
• Perform detailed FEA to model stress, strain, deformation, and modal response.
• Develop analytical models to anchor and validate FEA results.
• Analyze hardware for static, dynamic, and thermoelastic loads.
• Support structural test plans and physical testing (static loads, vibration, shock).
• Correlate analysis with test data to refine predictions.
• Collaborate with design engineers to optimize mass and stiffness, ensuring performance requirements.
• Mentor and guide other engineers in structural analysis.
