Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Chicago, IL, seeks an experienced structural engineer to support renewable energy projects across the U.S. and overseas. The role requires leading structural reviews, preparing design specifications, and delivering technical reports to owners, developers, and financiers.

Hybrid work with in-office 3 days per week. A 10+ year background in power plant structures, strong writing skills, and team collaboration are essential. PE/SE licenses are valued but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering required.
• 10+ years in detailed structural design for power generation or distribution.
• Experience writing Structural Engineering specifications, calculations, and reports.
• Power plant design experience (solar, wind, thermal, etc.).
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural engineering reviews.
• Prepare structural design specifications.
• Advise power project developers to support projects.
• Evaluate new power projects to support financing.
• Develop technical reports for owners, developers, governmental agencies and financiers.
• Occasional domestic and/or international travel.
