Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer in Chicago to lead structural design for power and industrial projects. You will guide teams, perform advanced analyses, and deliver integrated designs and calculations for steel frames, foundations, and supports.

The role requires a PE license, ABET-accredited civil engineering degree, and 15+ years in heavy industry. Hybrid work with on-site 3 days/week, and collaboration with clients and vendors across projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis from ABET-accredited program.
Fifteen or more years in a project team environment for heavy industrial plants, focusing on steel, concrete foundations and supports.
PE license required.
Experience writing and providing support documentation for structural calculations.
Knowledge of design codes: IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318.
Proficiency with MS Office.

Responsibilities

Lead structural engineering design efforts and coordinate detailed design phases across teams.
Perform structural analyses for wind, seismic, blast and other loads.
Develop integrated structural designs and supporting calculations.
Prepare technical specifications for structural materials and studies.
Review work of others including calculations and drawings.
Coordinate with clients, managers, and suppliers for timely design delivery.
Mentor junior engineers and guide project teams.
Travel to client/vendor sites for reviews and condition assessments.
