Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Cary, NC seeks a senior structural engineer to lead design efforts on nuclear facility projects, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and guiding junior engineers. You will apply expertise in steel framing, concrete design, and seismic/wind loading to deliver safe, compliant structures.

This role offers a hybrid schedule with in-office work three days a week and opportunities to travel for design reviews.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BSCE in Structural Engineering.
• 5+ years experience on project teams for design/analysis of structures.
• Proficient with structural analysis software (STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS).
• Familiar with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI design codes.
• Proficient with MS Office; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural engineering design on nuclear facility projects and guide junior staff.
• Prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications, support drawing development.
• Perform analysis for steel frames, connections, concrete members, supports, and foundations.
• Conduct wind/seismic loading analyses and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Travel to client/vendor sites for design reviews; hybrid in-office schedule 3 days/week.
