Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Professional, Structural Engineer to join our Buffalo, NY team. The role covers buildings, bridges, data centers, and other structures with leadership and mentorship opportunities across design centers in the US and globally.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication, technical, and project-management skills, and will perform design, modeling, and preparation of construction documents while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 5–7 years of post-education engineering experience with structural or civil design.
• Engineer in Training certification.
• Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles and design.
• Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
• Knowledge of sustainability and regulatory compliance in construction.
• Strong technical computations and interpretation of plans and codes.
• Project management experience on small to mid-size projects.
• Ability to lead inspections and investigations of construction and design.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
• Self-leadership with attention to detail and multi-tasking.
• Proficiency with technical writing and design software.
• Strong problem-solving and data interpretation skills.
• Ability to direct subcontractors and field teams.
• Commitment to workplace safety and QA/QC.
• Ability to work flexible schedules and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate with owners, disciplines, subs, and clients.
• Perform data collection and analysis from sites, surveys, and drawings.
• Apply modeling techniques and design requirements for safe, functional structures.
• Lead or contribute to multiple projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Provide guidance and training to junior engineers.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations with findings and recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
