WSP seeks a Technical Director, Structural Engineer in Buffalo, NY to lead structural engineering teams on buildings, bridges, data centers, and more. The role drives technical excellence, mentorship, and cross-disciplinary collaboration with a focus on profitable project delivery.

Ideal candidates bring 12+ years’ post-education experience, a PE license, and proven leadership in complex projects, coordinating with federal, state, and local agencies to meet safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering is required.
• 12+ years of post-education experience in structural/civil and infrastructure design.
• Engineer license is required (multi-state preferred).
• Advanced proficiency with structural engineering principles, design/build, and permits.
• Strong knowledge of building/infrastructure codes and regulatory requirements.
• Independent worker who can lead mid-to-senior teams with QA/QC discipline.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive and strategic leadership for the structural engineering discipline and function.
• Review permits, design plans, specifications, and contracts for compliance with regulations and standards.
• Lead large-scale, complex structural projects, manage budgets, hours, and subcontractors.
• Develop business opportunities and a pipeline for buildings and infrastructure in assigned geography.
• Lead contract negotiations, presentations, and client meetings; mentor staff and ensure project profitability.
