Job summary

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with at least ten years of experience for our DC Metro office. The ideal candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team, mentor engineers, and work with the business development team to develop technical proposals.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program required.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE).
• minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience.
• Experience with computer software programs and analysis systems (such as RISA, AutoCAD, Revit, RamSS, Etabs, Enercalc).
• Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and time management skills.
• Project Management experience and/or certifications.
• Desire to lead inter-disciplinary projects and project teams.
• Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus.
• Active local industry involvement is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Structural analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of commercial & industrial projects.
• Design of steel, concrete, and masonry commercial/institutional, federal and Industrial buildings, both in new and existing construction.
• Lead design team efforts and collaborate with architect/owner/contractor for well-coordinated drawings.
• Manage project budget and schedule; develop fee and qualification-based proposals.
• Travel as needed and coordinate with Coffman offices.
