Job summary

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with at least ten years of experience for our DC Metro office. The successful candidate will mentor a team, work with the business development group on proposals, and lead projects from concept through construction, focusing on steel, concrete, and masonry for commercial and federal facilities.

This role requires a PE or SE, ABET‑accredited degree, and ability to travel.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of structural engineering experience.
• PE or SE licensure required (or on track).
• Experience designing steel, concrete and masonry structures.
• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Proven proposal development and marketing collaboration.
• Strong communication, organization and time management.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design for steel, concrete and masonry projects.
• Coordinate with architects, owners and contractors for well‑coordinated drawings.
• Mentor junior staff and manage project teams and budgets.
• Develop and assist in fee-based proposals and qualifications.
