Job summary

WSP in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead structural design and documentation for diverse building projects. You will develop drawings, calculations, and specifications while collaborating with architects, planners, and other engineers.

The role requires 5–7 years of experience, an EIT, and strong knowledge of IBC; you will mentor junior staff, uphold QA/QC standards, and ensure safety and compliance on public and private sector projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5–7 years post-education experience in structural design, detailing, renovation and/ or seismic strengthening.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Strong lateral force-resisting system design and familiarity with the International Building Code.
  • Proficiency in structural engineering principles and their application to project work; experience with design and construction administration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop structural construction drawings, calculation packages and specifications.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure code compliance and project success.
  • Prepare data and visualizations, reports, sketches, and 2D/3D illustrations for analyses.
  • Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
  • Maintain QA/QC and adhere to safety and design standards.
