Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to join the Property & Buildings team in Tempe, AZ. You will provide high-level structural design, guidance, and leadership across multiple complex construction projects, mentoring engineers and coordinating with architects, contractors, and clients.

Requirements include a structural or civil engineering degree, SE license or progress toward it within one year, and 7–10 years of relevant experience in healthcare, education, commercial, or public-sector

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in structural or civil engineering.
• SE license or ability to obtain within one year.
• 7–10 years of post-education experience in structural design and seismic strengthening.
• Proficiency with IBC and lateral force-resisting systems.
• Experience in project management on mid-to-large projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply high-level structural engineering techniques for concept to construction phases.
• Investigate site conditions and conformance with codes and standards.
• Develop and supervise construction drawings, calculations, and specs with coordination for owners and clients.
• Manage design, construction, rehabilitation, and remediation of building projects.
• Oversee cross-functional teams and track budgets, hours, expenses, and QA/QC.
• Coordinate, review, and issue building design plans per codes and regulations.
• Prepare data visualizations and technical reports for stakeholders.
• Present findings and recommendations to address structural issues.
