Job summary

WSP in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to join the Property & Buildings team. You will lead high‑level structural engineering across concept through construction, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with clients and sub-consultants to ensure quality and timely deliverables.

You will apply advanced structural analysis, design, and project management skills, guiding teams through complex healthcare, education, and commercial projects while adhering to codes and safety standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering is required.
SE license or ability to obtain within one year is required.
7–10 years post-education experience in structural design, detailing renovation and seismic strengthening is expected.
Proficiency with lateral force-resisting systems and the International Building Code is needed.
Strong knowledge of structural codes, design principles, and construction administration is essential.

Responsibilities

Lead high‑level structural engineering work across multiple phases from concept to construction.
Supervise development of drawings, calculations, and specs with coordination among owners and sub-consultants.
Manage design and construction activities, budgets, hours, and project deliverables.
Provide guidance to junior engineers and ensure QA/QC compliance.
Collaborate with regulatory agencies, clients, and contractors to advance projects.
