Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Seattle, WA is seeking a Structural Engineer for the Ground System Design & Test team to design and analyze structures for rocket engine testing. You will perform hand calculations and FEA, develop 3D models and construction drawings, and ensure design intent is realized in the field.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Civil/Structural Engineering, 6+ years of experience, and proficiency with STAAD/ANSYS and CAD/BIM tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
6+ years of structural engineering experience with industrial/heavy structures.
Proficiency in structural analysis software, including STAAD and ANSYS.
Experience designing small to medium structural steel systems per AISC and ASCE 7.
Experience producing structural construction drawings and 3D models using CAD/BIM tools.
GD&T per ANSI/ASME Y14.5.
PE licensure in at least one U.S. state (preferred).
Citizenship or work eligibility to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

Perform structural analysis and design for structural steel frames, thrust structures, flame diverters, anchor systems, pipe/equipment supports, and facility elements under static, dynamic, thermal, and impulsive loads from rocket testing.
Produce structural analyses using hand calculations and FEA tools (STAAD, ANSYS, etc.).
Develop 3D structural models and construction drawings with CAD/BIM tools.
Design custom fixtures and test article mounts for engine/test stands.
Coordinate with construction PMs and contractors to realize design intent in the field.
Serve as the structural engineer in HAZOP and safety reviews.
