Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design seeks a Structural/Buildings Engineer for our Rochester, NY team. You will design and review structural systems for low- to mid-rise buildings, collaborate with architects, and guide junior staff through REVIT modeling and analysis.

You will apply structural engineering principles to renovations, new construction, and adaptive reuse, ensuring code compliance and durable performance. A PE in NY is preferred; 8+ years of experience is common for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering (ABET accredited).
• 8+ years of professional experience as a Structural Engineer, Buildings space preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) preferred in New York State.
• Experience with structural design calculations using software and hand methods.
• Advanced knowledge of Revit and willingness to advance further.
• Proficiency in structural software (RISA, RAM, TEKLA, TEDDS, SAFE, PROFIS).
• Knowledge of building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE7, AISC360, ACI318, ACI 530, NDS).
• Strong MS Office skills and familiarity with project coordination tools.

Responsibilities

• Apply structural engineering fundamentals to design tasks for buildings.
• Perform intermediate design tasks under supervision of a licensed PE.
• Contribute drafting and modeling using REVIT and improve modeling skills.
• Mentor junior staff and interns.
• Visit construction sites to observe conditions and progression.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers as part of a design team.
• Assist with shop drawing reviews and RFI handling.
• Coordinate with disciplines to ensure project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
