Job summary

SSOE Group in Columbia, SC seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead complex projects across architectural, structural, MEP, and automation disciplines. You’ll mentor staff, manage technical scope, and drive innovative design using BIM/AI tools.

Ideal candidates have extensive licensure in structural engineering and a track record on industrial/data-center projects. This role emphasizes client engagement, project leadership, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and licensure required.
• PE or SE license with 12+ years of experience.
• Experience with BIM collaboration tools (ACC/BIM360, Bluebeam, Navisworks).
• Strong knowledge of US codes: ASCE, ACI, AISC 341, IBC.
• Experience with seismic detailing for concrete, steel, foundations.
• Strong client-facing communication and leadership in technical discussions.
• Experience in multi-discipline coordination and change control.
• Industrial and manufacturing projects experience required.
• Data center or pharmaceutical project experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering decisions on structural problems and sizing.
• Lead stamping/sealing when licensed staff.
• Represent the firm in meetings to plan and coordinate.
• Direct medium to large projects with budget, schedule, quality control.
• Ensure materials and equipment meet quality and specs.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive technical guidance.
• Support business development and client engagement.
• Travel required; valid driver's license.
