Job summary

SSOE is seeking a Senior Structural Designer in Birmingham, AL, with a broad focus on industrial and complex commercial projects. The role emphasizes multidisciplinary coordination, senior-level design and leadership across BIM-enabled workflows.

You will contribute to projects across architectural, structural, MEP, and process disciplines while advancing through defined mentorship and career growth pathways.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certification in engineering or architecture preferred.
• Minimum fifteen (15) years experience with SSOE as a Designer or nineteen (19) years with prior employers.
• Working knowledge of BIM collaboration and review platforms including ACC/BIM360, Bluebeam, and Navisworks.
• Industrial and Manufacturing building projects experience is mandatory.
• Data Center and/or Pharmaceutical project experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interprets, organizes, executes and coordinates medium assignments with budget adherence and inter-discipline coordination.
• Makes design decisions independently; may receive input on complex problems from leadership.
• Produces finished plans and specifications and final acceptance of major items.
• Completes work on major projects or total design on smaller/moderate projects.
• Acts as job captain on single or multi-discipline projects; may lead design teams.
