Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) seeks a Structural Bridge Design Department Manager to lead and grow the Melville, NY bridge design team.

You will oversee complex transportation projects, mentor engineers, and guide business development while aligning with GPI's strategic goals in Melville and Manhattan. This senior role requires a NY PE license, a civil engineering degree with structural emphasis, and 15+ years in bridge engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis.
• Professional Engineer license in New York is required.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and grow the Structural Bridge Design Department, including staffing, mentorship, project delivery, and professional development.
• Serve as a technical expert and senior reviewer for bridge and structural engineering projects.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resource planning, and overall project performance.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships with agencies such as NYSDOT, counties, municipalities, toll authorities, and other transportation clients.
• Support and lead business development activities, including proposal preparation, client presentations, strategic planning, and pursuit efforts.
• Direct multidisciplinary project teams through planning, design, quality control, and construction support phases.
• Provide QA/QC reviews for engineering deliverables.
• Mentor and develop bridge engineers, project managers, and technical staff to strengthen departmental capabilities.
