Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in the Greater Seattle area is seeking an Analyst - Structural II to perform and oversee structural analysis for the New Glenn vehicle. This hands-on role covers configuration development, trade studies, material allowables testing, and detailed analysis reports for flight hardware.

You will create FE models, support testing, and provide engineering guidance across integration and liaison activities, contributing to safe, repeatable spaceflight and the company’s mission to lower

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil engineering.
  • Ability to generate free-body diagrams to calculate internal loads and reaction forces, and help simplify and idealize structural problems of varying complexity.
  • Strong experience with classical and aerospace analysis methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, Blodgett, Mark’s Shigley, etc.).
  • Familiarity with typical structural requirements, criteria, and failure modes from one or more related fields (e.g., aerospace, civil, marine, automotive).
  • Experience with finite element modeling and use of all element types (beams, plates, solids, etc.). Proven ability to model large or complex assembly structures. Able to perform model verification and validation, and trouble-shoot model crashes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with one or more of the following finite element software packages: NASTRAN, Optistruct/Hyperworks, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna

Responsibilities

  • Analysis, development, and testing of primary and secondary structures, including composites and metallic piece parts, as well as integrated structural assemblies.
  • Create Finite Element Models, analysis packages, and interface control documents
  • Provide technical guidance for integration and general Liaison Engineering support.
  • Create test plans, specifications, and other documentation for the development of flight hardware
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to our inclusive culture.
