Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced structural engineer to own the full hardware lifecycle for New Glenn payload accommodations. You will analyze primary/secondary structures, perform hand and FEM analyses, and document stress results for drawings and release.

Qualifications

  • bs in engineering and 6+ years in aircraft/spacecraft/launch vehicle structures
  • Experience with vehicle load paths and accurate sizing
  • Strong understanding of composite and metallic design fundamentals
  • Experience with major FEA/CAD tools and joint analysis
  • Ability to own hardware lifecycle from concept to integration

Responsibilities

  • Own full hardware lifecycle from requirements through integration
  • Analyze and test primary/secondary metallic and composite structures
  • Perform hand calculations and FEM analyses for margins of safety
  • Document stress analysis to support drawings and docs
  • Develop concepts and run trade studies for risk vs. cost vs. performance
  • Build system and detail models for structural design
  • Plan and execute structural test programs and report results
  • Prepare technical content and present to teams and customers
  • Collaborate across design, manufacturing, and mission teams
