About the Role

A senior strategist at Madeo acts as a thought partner to client teams on a day-to-day basis to make strategic communications recommendations. This role leads content strategy across the brand, website, editorial, email, social media, and other digital communications initiatives such as reports and campaigns. The strategist would also collaborate with Madeo project managers, designers, engineers, and leadership.

Basics
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • This is a remote-first role, requiring work in EST time zone or close to it
  • While relevant in-house experience is a plus, prior agency experience is a must
  • Strong command of facilitating large client meetings and workshops
  • Demonstrated experience in working with social impact clients (nonprofits, foundations, institutions..etc.)
  • Showcase of relevant website (information architecture) and relevant brand strategy & comms projects
  • While relevant PR experience is a positive, this is not a press or PR strategy role
Minimum Qualifications

Candidates need to demonstrate experience in the following requirements to be considered for the role:

Leading strategy for nonprofit website redesign projects, including;

  • Planning and carrying out research, discovery interviews, and workshops with nonprofit leadership.
  • Overseeing stakeholder surveys from planning through to the development of insights.
  • Carrying out website and digital content strategy with the ability to make recommendations on information architecture, taxonomy, and content management considerations.
  • Experience with partnering with designers on design strategy such as hierarchy of information, UX choices and approaches.

Advising nonprofit leaders on brand and digital communications strategy;

  • Assuming a leading role with client leadership teams on addressing strategic challenges, such as an organization’s brand positioning, meeting strategic engagement goals, and improving strategy and execution for web, editorial, emails, and social media.
  • Proactive evaluation of challenges and opportunities for existing client teams, and interest in having an active role in offering solutions and growing our work together.
Preferred Additional Skills

While these skills are not required, experience in these areas would be a strong plus in expanding your ability to contribute across our work. The ideal candidate for this role would have expertise across one or more of the following:

  • Strong writing skills for high-level brand messaging and for website copywriting
  • SEO and associated tools for reporting
  • Google Analytics dashboards and tools like Looker Studio
  • WordPress taxonomy and feature expertise to propose CMS features with designers and engineers
  • Proven experience in working directly on client proposals and other related efforts towards agency business development
  • Experience mentoring more junior strategists and specialist consultants (e.g., paid ads)
