Job summary

City of Virginia Beach is seeking a supervisory leader for the Stormwater Engineering Center, City Engineer’s Office. The role leads a dedicated team of Project Managers within the PM division, providing direction, training and coaching to engineers.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of stormwater disciplines and proven PM experience on major infrastructure projects, erosion control, permitting, and construction.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Stormwater disciplines.
• Demonstrated project management experience in major infrastructure projects.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide planning, direction, and management of the Stormwater Engineering Center Project Management division.
• Provide training, supervision, and assistance for professional staff to ensure City standards are adhered to and good engineering practices are followed.
• Provide comprehensive engineering and management for the development of capital projects, including scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules and budgets for the Flood Protection Program.
• Provide professional responses to citizen inquiries concerning specific projects to inform them properly.
• Prepare technical reports, studies, or presentations for upper management and present them to executive leadership including City Council.
• Interview and hire professional staff.
• Conduct annual performance reviews for professional staff.
