Job summary

City of Virginia Beach seeks a supervisory leader for the Stormwater Engineering Center. The role directs a team of Project Managers, guiding engineers and staff with training, coaching, and strategic direction.

The ideal candidate has stormwater project management experience across major infrastructure, erosion control, permits, and construction, and excels in cross-department coordination with stakeholders and consultants. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a PE license from the Virginia board (APELSCIDLA).
• Seven years of progressive professional experience in engineering or related field.
• Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide planning, direction, and management of the Stormwater Engineering Center Project Management division.
• Provide training, supervision, and coaching for professional staff to ensure standards and good engineering practices.
• Develop and manage capital project scopes, costs, schedules, and budgets for the Flood Protection Program.
• Prepare technical reports for upper management and City Council.
