Job summary

City of Virginia Beach seeks a Project Engineer to support the Stormwater Engineering Center within the Department of Public Works. The role may be Engineer I, II or III depending on qualifications and experience, handling stormwater infrastructure, planning, design and project delivery.

The ideal candidate will manage the Stormwater Master Plan Update, oversee modeling and technical studies, review complex plans and oversee contracts for Flood Protection Program projects.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field for Engineer I.
• Engineer II requires E.I.T. and 2 years of professional experience.
• Engineer III requires PE license and 5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects aligned with the City’s Stormwater Master Plan Update.
• Perform and oversee stormwater modeling, analyses and studies.
• Review drainage plans, engineering studies and documents.
• Manage engineering contracts and Flood Protection Program projects.
