Job summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking a Senior Engineer in the Storm Water Services Engineering and Design Division to lead storm drainage improvement projects and mentor staff.

You will manage consultants, apply hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, and ensure conformance with local standards and DOT specs.

A Bachelors degree and five years of experience are required; PE is preferred. This is a full-time role in Charlotte, NC with a competitive salary.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in engineering with five years of progressive experience in planning, design, and construction of storm drainage systems.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
• Experience leading engineering projects and managing consultants in stormwater projects.

Responsibilities

• Direct, mentor, and provide high level technical support to Project Managers for project planning, design, and construction of storm drainage improvement projects.
• Independently manage engineering consultants performing planning, design, and construction administration of storm drainage improvement projects.
• Perform contract management activities including schedule and fee review, processing invoices, purchase orders, and amendments.
• Oversee preparation of in-house planning studies and design exhibits.
• Collaborate with the Construction and Utilities Division to resolve constructability issues or design modifications during construction.
• Communicate with citizens, the public, management and city officials.
