Job summary

Herrera Environmental Consultants, a mission-driven firm, seeks a Senior Civil Engineer - Stormwater to lead the design of stormwater facilities and infrastructure that improve water quality across municipal, industrial, and community projects.

You will collaborate with ecologists, landscape architects, planners, and scientists to deliver high-performance projects in complex ecological settings, advancing technical leadership and client value.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• PE license in Washington, Oregon, or California, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Experience planning and designing stormwater infrastructure.
• Experience collaborating with staff across diverse technical disciplines.
• Experience preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for stormwater management and/or site development civil engineering projects.
• Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic stormwater modeling (e.g., WWHM, MGSFlood, SWMM, HydroCAD, and similar).
• Construction management and/or inspection experience on civil engineering projects.
• Experience developing scopes of work and budgets for design projects.
• Experience with local stormwater regulations in Washington, Oregon, and/or California.
• Experience with Construction Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).

Responsibilities

• Plan and design small- to large-scale stormwater facilities and infrastructure retrofits.
• Plan and design stormwater infrastructure for municipal, industrial, non-profit and community partners.
• Complete civil site development engineering design for municipal and industrial facilities, parks, trails, and open spaces.
• Understand and navigate the requirements of Municipal Stormwater Permits, Construction Stormwater Permits, and other local stormwater requirements in Washington, Oregon, and California.
• Evaluate potential sources of contamination and propose solutions to manage stormwater to meet regulatory requirements.
• Model and design flow control, water quality, and conveyance infrastructure to meet federal, state, and local standards.
• Produce plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports for stormwater infrastructure projects to support permitting and public bidding.
