Job summary

Herrera Environmental Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer - Stormwater in the Pacific Northwest to lead design and implementation of stormwater infrastructure projects.

You will collaborate with ecologists, landscape architects, planners, and scientists to deliver high-performance projects with environmental and community benefits. The role offers flexible hybrid work, opportunities for project leadership, and a path toward PE licensure if not already held.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington, Oregon, or California, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Experience planning and designing stormwater infrastructure.
• Experience collaborating with staff across diverse technical disciplines.
• Experience preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for stormwater projects.
• Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic stormwater modeling (e.g., WWHM, MGSFlood, SWMM, HydroCAD).
• Construction management and/or inspection experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and design small- to large-scale stormwater facilities and infrastructure retrofits.
• Plan and design stormwater infrastructure for municipal, industrial, non-profit and community partners.
• Complete civil site development engineering design for municipal and industrial facilities, parks, trails, and open spaces.
• Navigate Municipal Stormwater Permits, Construction Stormwater Permits, and other local stormwater requirements in WA, OR, CA.
• Evaluate contamination sources and propose stormwater solutions to meet regulations.
• Model and design flow control and water quality infrastructure to meet standards.
• Produce plans, specs, cost estimates, and reports for permitting and bidding.
