Job summary

Goodwill Industries International, Inc. is hiring a Retail Store Manager for their Livermore location. The manager will also ensure that the store reflects the Goodwill brand positively and is a key player in community outreach. A minimum of three years' experience is required along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Job description

Location: 1374 Railroad Avenue, Livermore, California 94550. Pay Range: Minimum $100,000.00. This position is eligible for a monthly bonus based on performance goals, with successful completion of training.

Job Overview

Drives retail business operations at a Retail Store location for Goodwill of the San Francisco Bay, helping fund the Goodwill mission of ending unemployment. Responsible for entire store production, directly leading Assistant Store Manager(s), Production Team, and Donation Attendants.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute retail operations plan to achieve daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals for operating income, revenue, and production.
  • Build a strong bench of future leaders to support succession and store growth.
  • Maintain annual revenue expectation of $2.5M within the assigned store.
  • Coordinate with Retail District Manager to develop and implement strategic plans to help drive donations.
  • Monitor product levels (floor work, as-is, recycle, trash, seasonal back stock) daily to achieve bottom line sales budget against targets.
  • Ensure payroll costs and operating costs are managed to budget.
  • Ensure Team Members deliver excellent customer service to donors and customers.
  • Ensure store locations are clean, well‑kept, and reflect the Goodwill brand appropriately.
  • Partner with community businesses and organizations to promote the Goodwill mission.
  • Maintain regular and consistent in‑person attendance.
  • Serve as a Goodwill ambassador to the community.
  • Transfer to different stores at any given moment due to business needs.
  • Ensure that all Team Members are well‑trained and fulfill their duties and responsibilities.
  • Ensure Donation Attendants demonstrate excellent customer service in receiving donations and that those donations are sorted and prepared for processing.
  • Ensure that the Production Team processes, prices, and displays product per company standards and to achieve store goals.
  • Under direction of the Retail District Manager, partner with other store locations to allocate donations, Team Members, and leadership to maximize area performance.
  • Ensure that Team Members are operating per company standards and procedures.
  • Build a high‑performing team, responsible for performance management (coaching, discipline, performance improvement plans, and annual reviews), staffing, compensation, and development of Team Members.
  • Ensure that the Assistant Store Manager effectively manages performance of Retail Store Associates.
  • Maintain regular and consistent in‑person attendance.
  • Play a critical role in driving company culture change efforts and change management processes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Three or more years of experience leading 40+ FTEs in a high‑volume thrift environment.
  • Background in high‑volume grocery, restaurant, or manufacturing setting is strongly encouraged.
  • Experience leading a store with $3M+ in annual revenue is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate revenue and achieve production goals.
  • Strong understanding of financial metrics, reporting, and budget management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to pass a background check, as applicable.
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently.
