Job summary

Berkley Accident and Health is seeking a Sr. Stop Loss Underwriter to drive profitable growth in the stop loss portfolio.

The role collaborates with clinical, actuarial, claims and distribution to implement renewal strategies across multiple offices, with a hybrid work schedule (4 days in-office, 1 day remote as appropriate). The position requires 5+ years of underwriting experience, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and strong skills in math, negotiation, and client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of progressive Stop Loss Underwriting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Understanding of stop loss market dynamics and risk management strategies.
• Strong math, communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Write and retain profitable stop loss cases adhering to guidelines.
• Collaborate with clinical underwriting staff to establish risk premiums.
• Develop relationships with target production sources and with Sales/Account Management.
• Document underwriting thought process and authority reviews.
