Job summary
Berkley Accident and Health in New Jersey is seeking an Underwriter to drive profitable growth of our stop loss portfolio by evaluating risks against underwriting guidelines. You will work with more seasoned staff to develop underwriting acumen and collaborate with clinical, actuarial, claims and distribution teams to advance the portfolio.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 3+ years of progressive Stop Loss Underwriting experience.
- Understanding of stop loss market dynamics and risk management.
- Strong math, communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent time management for high workload.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with David Young System preferred.
Responsibilities
- Write and retain profitable stop loss cases adhering to guidelines and assigned authority.
- Establish basics of medical underwriting with internal Clinical Underwriting staff.
- Clearly articulate thought process around risk selection and pricing for reviews.
- Develop relationships with target production sources, Sales and Account Management teams.
- Document underwriting thought process and authority reviews accurately.
